I ‘grew up’ (kinda) looking at Dick Miller in motion pictures from the 50s on and was thrilled to have him in my initial film for Roger Corman,” Dante shared on Twitter. “We strike it off and each and every script thereafter I often looked for a part for Dick–not just simply because he was my buddy but since I liked observing him act! But he leaves driving over a hundred performances, a bio & a doc–not lousy for a person who barely ever loved a starring role.”
Toddler Driver director Edgar Wright and Medical professional Unusual screenwriter and Junkfood Cinema podcast cohost C. Robert Cargill also remembered the actor.
“RIP Dick Miller, surely the king of character actors,” Wright wrote on Twitter. “A welcoming, humorous facial area in Gremlins (1&two), Piranha, the original Minor Shop Of Horrors, Not Of This Earth, After Hours & my own beatnik fav, Walter Paisley in ‘A Bucket Of Blood’. Any part of his was cult movie nirvana.”
“Dick Miller was the patron saint of Junkfood Cinema,” wrote Cargill. “Brian (Salisbury, Junkfood Cinema’s other host) and I did an in depth job interview with him five years back at the very beginning of JFC. We only had a 50 percent hour, but Dick preferred to maintain likely. Went above an hour. He Cherished talking about films he hadn’t believed about in 40yrs.”
